Application Timeline
The Ventura County Electrical Apprenticeship will accept applications from 9am-3pm on January 7, 14, and 21, 2026. The application will remain open on each of these dates until 40 applications are received. Before you apply, be sure to review the rest of the qualification requirements.
How Do I Apply?
To apply for the Ventura County Electrical Apprenticeship Program, you must first complete an online application form and submit the required documentation. Your application and documentation will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the minimum requirements. Click the Apply Now button located to the right of the navigation bar.
Basic Qualifications
The minimum requirements for the Ventura County Electrical Apprenticeship Program include the following:
- You must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of application
- You must provide a U.S. Birth Certificate, valid U.S. Passport, or valid U.S. Employment Authorization Card
- You must have a valid government issued photo ID at the time of application
- You must show evidence that you have either:
- Graduated High School
- Completed GED Requirements
- Earned an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, or higher
- Evidence can be in the form of a High School Diploma, GED Certificate, High School Proficiency Certificate, or College Diploma
- You must show evidence that you have either completed:
- One year (two-semesters) of Algebra, or higher, while in High School
- One Semester of Algebra, or higher, while in college
- The etA Online Tech Math Program (available at OnlineTechMath )
- Evidence can be in the form of an Official High School or College Transcript, or a Certificate issued by the etA for the Online Tech Math Course
Minimum requirements #3 and #4 may be waived if you have been working for an electrical construction contractor and can provide documentation that you have accumulated 4000 hours or more of experience. Documentation must consist of payroll and/or tax records. To waive requirements #3 and #4, you must identify yourself as having the required experience during the application process.
Applicants who have served in the US Military will be required to submit a complete DD-214. For those Veterans accepted into our apprenticeship, we are a GI Bill Approved Training Program.
If you meet the basic requirements, you will be scheduled to take the etA Aptitude Test Battery. This test consists of reading comprehension and algebra. Information regarding the etA Aptitude Test Battery may be found at http://www.electricaltrainingalliance.org
If you obtain a qualifying score on the aptitude test, you will be scheduled for an interview with the Ventura County Electrical Apprenticeship committee.
Based on your interview and a review of your qualifications, you will receive an overall ranking. Your name will be placed on the eligibility list for two years. As new positions with the apprenticeship program become available, applicants may receive an offer of apprenticeship based on their ranking on the eligibility list.
If you are selected to receive an offer of apprenticeship, you will be required to submit to drug testing and/or a background check.

Accommodation requests given on the test day CANNOT be addressed that day. In most cases, you will need to provide supporting documentation.
